Gartner research, a company well known within the tech industry, is predicting that Windows Phone 7 will ultimately fail to increase Microsoft’s market share in mobile. They think that the new platform will give Microsoft a small boost in market share, from 4.7% to 5.2% next year, but by 2014, the actual market share figure will be around 3.9%, trailing the other smartphone operating systems. Naturally, it’s difficult to predict the success or failure of a new platform, especially before it launches, so take this information with a grain of salt.
