FaceTime Competitor Coming for Windows Phone 7?

Whether you think live smartphone video chat is useful or just a novelty, it makes for good marketing material. So far, Windows Phone 7, with its lack of support for front-facing cameras, can’t tout video chat even through third party apps. All that might change soon. At a Windows Phone 7 event at CES, a Microsoft employee made an off-the-record remark that a video chat program is in the works for Windows Phone 7. Not much other info was given, and we’re thinking that this feature could be a part of the 2011 Mango update. Granting further validity to this possible new feature, one can find proof of secondary camera support found in Microsoft.Phone.Media.Extended.dll in the Windows Phone 7 files.
