We’ve heard a lot about Nokia’s desire to offer some very budget-priced Windows Phone hardware. While Microsoft’s strict hardware requirements have promoted a high-quality user experience, they’ve prevented manufacturers from delivering handsets that might be better priced for developing nations. We expect to see Nokia start filling that void later this year, but for the moment, it has its Lumia 800 and 710 to deal with. As the phones continue launching in different markets around the world, reports are arriving that carriers are already putting the pressure on Nokia to drive-down its prices, hoping to encourage sales.

The UK will soon get its hands on the Lumia 710. We’ve already seen the phone offered free-on-contract in the US, but apparently UK carriers are a little worried about Nokia’s plans for launching the phone there. Nokia would reportedly like to have the phone offered on monthly plans working out to about $39; the carriers, on the other hand, are supposedly concerned about weak Lumia 800 sales, and want the 710 priced-down to somewhere around the $30-a-month range.

We haven’t yet heard if Nokia is open to the idea; with the Lumia 710 expected in the UK any week now, it shouldn’t be long before we learn, though.
