If you’ve got a Samsung Focus and a mind for tinkering, you may have already tried out the hidden diagnostic mode that lets you ultimately enable wired USB tethering. While so far that trick isn’t working on other Windows Phone 7 handsets, the key sequence used to access the diagnostic screen does work with other WP7 devices, though you might not get quite what you’re looking for.
Dial ##634#, the same code used on the Focus, with Dell’s Venue Pro and you will find yourself staring at glowing green glyphs, raining down the screen. That’s right; you’re in the Matrix.
So far there’s nothing useful that’s come out of Dell’s version of the diagnostic code, so it could just be a cute little extra added in by the phone’s programmers. If there is a way to get past it into a workable diagnostic menu, only Dell knows about it for now.
