Back in April 2011 CNN announced its Android client for those rocking a Google-powered smartphone that want to always be connected to the news. Nine months later, CNN announces its Windows Phone application, taking heavy advantage of the Metro design guidelines.
The Windows Phone CNN app “will provide the latest news and video from CNN’s reporting around the globe”. Besides the panoramic structure, the application will fully support Windows Phone Mango, users being able to pin sections of the software to Home Screen. Real-time news updates will be shown on the app’s Live Tile and, “for the first time on an app, users will have the ability to submit an iReport while simultaneously capturing the event”.
Look for the application next month if you have a Nokia Windows Phone. If you don’t, you’ll have to wait a little more because the CNN App will be exclusive to Nokia devices running the Redmond platform for 90 days and only then available to others.
