AT&T users may soon have the opportunity to check out Dell’s Windows Phone 7 device on their network, as a Dell Venue Pro featuring a cellular radio compatible with AT&T’s 3G band has been discovered, available for pre-order.
We talked about the possibility of AT&T getting the Venue Pro last month, when FCC filings revealed the reconfigured smartphone. We haven’t heard any news on the possibility of AT&T carrying the WP7 device since then, but considering all the trouble Dell had even getting the phone out to T-Mobile customers, we wouldn’t have expected a rushed introduction to AT&T.
Along with carrying the Android-based Dell Venue, retailer Negri Electronics has added a Dell Venue Pro using HSDPA 850 and 1900 MHz bands to its selection. This is the first we’ve seen the phone with these AT&T-compatible frequencies, also making the phone suitable for use on similarly-outfitted networks, like Telus.
Without carrier subsidies, Negri has the DVP for sale at its $650 full retail price. Before you go put your order in, keep in mind that the phone is still listed with a pre-order status, and no indication as to just when the model will ship. By the time that day rolls around, AT&T may have broken its silence and started talking about a DVP release, with all the discounted offers that go along with it.
