While iPhone and Android users are looking forward to the next version of the worldwide phenomenon that is Angry Birds, Windows Phone 7 fans are still left waiting for the original. Jabberworx, an indie WP7 game developer, couldn’t hold out any longer, so he decided to create a similar physics-based game of his own, called Chicks’n'Vixens. He wanted to show that even with a small budget and few resources, he was able to create an Angry Birds-like title in a relatively short amount of time. Meaning, he thinks Rovio is slacking off. In his opinion, he believes they “should be able to do better.”
Sure, Chicks’n'Vixens isn’t as polished and doesn’t feature any recognizable characters, but it’s free and probably shares enough similarities with Angry Birds to make it an enjoyable experience for many. For example, you fire chickens towards foxes protected by randomly built structures. Also, chickens are weaponized with special attributes, which can be brought out when tapping on the screen during flight.
The early beta of Chicks’n'Vixens is available as a free download on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. Check out some gameplay footage below.
