A short-lived sale at Amazon may be just the nudge you need if you’ve been on the fence about deciding to pick up one of the new Windows Phone 7 handsets. If you act this weekend, you’ll be able to score an on-contract HTC Surround or LG Quantum for one cent.
There are a whole slew of phones running on AT&T’s network that Amazon has put up for sale (no luck getting an iPhone for a penny, though), but these two WP7 models stand out due to being brand-spanking new.
The Surround and Quantum may not be the most talked-about WP7 handsets, but the Quantum is a good choice if you’re not totally comfortable with typing on a touchscreen and prefer your smartphone to have a physical QWERTY keyboard. The Surround, with it’s unusual slide-out-speakers design, delivers what we thought was some noticeably above-average audio performance.
Once the sale’s over, expect both models to return to a $199 price point.
