Does Windows Phone need some more QWERTY options? Just a few days ago, we were looking at a whole bunch of rumors that attempted to describe the hardware we’d see arrive this fall with the release of Windows Phone 8 Apollo. Among the models mentioned was a Nokia device that would have a slide-out keyboard. That smartphone could end up finding itself in good company, as today we’re learning about another possible QWERTY slider on the horizon, this time from Acer.
Acer released its first Windows Phone handset late last year, the Allegro (pictured above). While in development, we knew of that phone as model W4. Supposedly, Acer’s now worked its up to the W11, which is this QWERTY device we’re hearing about now. There’s not much else to go on beyond the inclusion of a keyboard, but there has been talk of this being one of the more lower-end of the new dual-core Windows Phone handsets that will be arriving.
Assuming this information is legit, look for the Acer W11 to be among that first wave of WP8 launch devices, probably sometime in October. For the moment, there’s no word on its retail name, and if it will be another Allegro-series device.
