Introduction

Since the dawning of our new internet age, information has been creeping away from the paper-only sources of our fore-fathers to the digitized screen. And the dictionary is no exception. Merriam-Webster has been around since 1831, purchasing the rights to Webster's dictionary, revising and expanding that edition since 1843. A legacy to behold. And now this font of information has been fitted into the Pocket PC via Paragon Software Group's Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary. With such a proud history, one would think the words could stand on their own. So how did it fare? Read on for the review!

Overall Impression

Information like this is cheap these days, so I have a hard time swallowing the almost $40 price tag. The load up times were unacceptable, and the fact that I had to reinstall twice to get the fonts right certainly left a funky taste in my mouth (and resident mode still doesn't work). Even if you needed a dictionary for your Pocket PC, there are plenty of alternatives to choose from. My suggestion would be to avoid this until it has been drastically overhauled. Taking all things into account, I give Paragon Software's Merriam-Webster Dictionary the following score:
