LED as a Flashlight
- Instructions:
- Hold the camera button on the keyboard a second or two until the camera opens
- Press menu>flash>on.
- Now whenever you are in the dark just hold the camera button for a second or two and tada. a great LED flashlight. and yes that thing is bright and useful in the dark!

New Message Alert (turn off)
- On the Motorola Q series, if you get occasional sounds and you're not sure why, you could have the unread message alert turned on. Basically, that beeps every 15 minutes when you have an unread E-mail, text, MMS, etc., but there's no on-screen display telling you what happened.
- To Turn it off:
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll/page almost to the end until you see the Unread Message Alert applet.
- Press the OK button.
- Change the control to Off.
- Press the Done softkey.
Power
- To get a faster boot: Go to the File Manager, then to the Startup folder, and delete all non-essential shortcuts

Special Characters
- Many of the special characters are available without opening the special characters menu
- Type a regular character and then hold down Fn (or ALT for the original Q) and then press the space bar
- For example the pipe character | can be found by typing either / or \ and then holding Fn and pressing the space bar.
- Under most characters (whether a regular character or one of the alternate characters) there are other characters available. Whether you are looking for Spanish or German accented caracters, or other symbols they are all there from your keyboard
