Applications
- Open a ton of applications in 1 step
- This is primarily an exercise in cleaning up the start menu.
- Sync the phone with the computer. Navigate to Windows\Start Menu.
- Create a new folder named Shortcuts and place your favorite 8 applications (or less if you are already using speed dial for some of your favorite telephone numbers) into that folder using cut/paste. Navigate to that folder on your phone by clicking the Start soft key and then the Shortcuts folder. Pair each application to a speed dial number (2-9) by clicking the right soft key and selecting Add Speed Dial. ***Now, navigate to Settings/Accessibility and change ‘Multipress time out’ to ½ second. Now, when you hold down any number, 2-9, from your home screen for one-half second, the corresponding application will launch.
- To set the next 8 ‘quick-launch’ applications, go back to your pc and place all of the remaining ‘loose’ applications that are located in Windows\Start Menu into an existing folder or a new folder.
- You may use categories such as Utilities, Games, Internet, etc. for naming the new folders or renaming existing ones. Make sure that there are no more than 8 total folders and that you have placed each application from the start menu into one of them.
- Now choose your next 8 favorite applications and copy/ paste them directly into Windows\Start Menu as loose applications. Look at the start menu on your Dash and you will see the 8 applications that you just chose. If you click More (the left soft key) you will see the 8 (or less) folders you just created. The phone automatically places the loose applications before the folders.
- How is it possibly to access this second group in two clicks? The top row in the Start menu corresponds to the letters Q, W, E, and R on your Dash keypad, and the bottom row corresponds to the letters A, S, D, and F. Just click the corresponding letter (after navigating to the start menu) and your application will launch.
- For added control over the order that the applications and folders appear on the start menu, rename the applications with a number, 1-8, then rename the folders with a number, 1-8, and they will appear in the designated order. For example, 1. Comm Manager will appear in the top left corner, followed by 2. Solitaire. You can even write 1Q. Comm Manager and 2W. Solitaire in order to clearly show which keyboard shortcut corresponds with which application/folder.

Ringtones
- Shadow: Make your own ringtones
- First connect your phone to your pc. Once connected, instead of syncing your music using windows media player, go to my computer, and then to mobile device.
- In the mobile device, find the folder marked My Ringtones, this folder is found in My Documents.
- Save your music in there, and then restart your phone. Than when you go to assign a ringtone your songs you put in that folder should be there!
- You can also install HTC MP3 Trimmer

- HTC S710/Vox: Make your own ringtones
- Use the same advice as for the Shadow or try this.
- Sync your music to your phone as you normally would
- Then on the S710, open Audio Manager (not the mobile WMP), choose the song you want to use, hit the Menu key, and choose "Set as Ring Tone."
- This will copy the file to your My Ringtones directory, but the directory won't be clogged with all your music, which should make selecting a ringtone using the standard the Settings > Sounds method a bit easier.
- One bit of advice: choose a song with a rousing opening, not one with a long, building lead-in, or you may never hear your phone!
