You’re probably well aware that just about any Windows Mobile phone can run Android with the help of XDA-Developers. But what about other operating system ports? It looks like the next major port to happen may be WebOS on the HTC Hero. A 13 page thread over at XDA-Developers includes detailed discussion from a large handful of developers that are interested in being a part of the port. Naturally, a port of this difficulty is going to be challenging, and may take a while. But if successful, a WebOS on the HTC Hero port could mean that we start seeing WebOS on a variety of other Android devices. Since the current generation of WebOS devices are considered underpowered, running the operating system on hardware with fast CPUs and plenty of RAM would be fantastic, or at least until the Palm Pre 2 comes around.
