Last month we learned of code names for some as-of-yet unreleased Palm devices, hidden away in a ROM image. Now at least two of these models are set to make an appearance in an upcoming Palm promotional video.
Among other models, the ROM contained strings identifying “Broadway,” “Windsor,” “Mantaray,” and “Stingray” as upcoming Palm devices. Fast-forward to this week, and Palm is casting roles for a planned video, either to be used internally or shown on the web. The casting call didn’t reveal anything interesting, but actors who signed on to audition were then sent additional information on the shoot, including some familiar device names.
Broadway, Manta, and Topaz devices will be featured in the video. It seems pretty safe to say that the Manta and Mantaray are the same phone, but there’s nothing else to go on there but its name. Broadway we’ve heard is the Pixi 2, and the Topaz could be a non-phone tablet.
In addition to making videos for its upcoming hardware, Palm is looking to add to its human resources, putting up a bunch of new job postings. The company is interested in hiring people to develop webOS apps, to work on email sync support, and write code for Linux. If you’ve got the IT chops and are looking for something new, check out the postings on Palm’s website.
