Where, oh where, is HP’s Pre 3? The company revealed the smartphone all the way back in February. While the HP Veer has come to market since then, the Pre 3 remains elusive. Pre-orders have been open for the smartphone’s European launch, and though we last expected them to start shipping in mid-July, that did not come to pass. While we’re still not sure exactly when the Pre 3 will become available, at least we now have a windows more specific than “summer”, with an HP exec revealing the smartphone will make its retail debut in Europe this month.
Delays for the Pre 3 are nothing new; prior to all this, we were expecting the handset to launch in June. Now we have what looks like a definitive answer about the phone’s release, but that comment was directed at the European launch; what about the US? We’ve been on the lookout for the Pre 3 at both Verizon and AT&T without much success. At one point, a July 21 Verizon launch seemed possible, but fizzled. Armed with this latest news, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the Pre 3 in the States for sometime around its European release, even if after a slight delay. If not in late August, then September looks like a possibility, even if it is shaping up to be a month full of high-profile smartphone releases.
