Fans of webOS may have the diminutive Veer to help tide them over, but for many of them, the Pre 3 is the model they’ve really been looking forward to. We’ve been following the phone’s progress towards its release, putting in appearances at the FCC with both CDMA and GSM versions. Some new information from a couple sources now places the smartphone’s release in late July, as well as reveals the Pre 3 will have Skype integration, including video chat via its front-facing camera.

The only carrier whose rumored release has a date attached to it is Verizon, where the Pre 3 is said to arrive on July 21. That at least gives us a window for when we might expect an AT&T Pre 3 to debut as well, since it will likely come out at about the same time on both networks, without a period of carrier exclusivity.

Some leaked pictures of the smartphone show it running webOS 2.2, instead of the 2.3 mentioned in FCC docs, but that 2.2 release will supposedly have Skype integrated into webOS Synergy. That will give Skype easy access to your list of contacts, and set you up to call them via VoIP, saving on your cellular bill when you’ve got access to WiFi.

We had expected the Pre 3 to first be available in Europe late this month, but even that release may be pushed back to mid-July. Looks like we all still have a few more weeks to go before we’ll be able to get our hands on the Pre 3.
