HP has been sending out notifications to news organizations that it intends to make a webOS-related announcement on February 9.
What could be in store for Palm devices? Well, we’ve heard that there’s a webOS tablet in the works, but it sounds like we can look forward to some smartphone news, as well. After all, HP advises that we “think small” in regards to the pending announcement.
On the lower end of exciting news, HP may just announce the schedule for webOS 2.0 updates coming to existing Palm smartphones. Towards the other extreme, the company may have some all-new hardware to debut.
The timing of HP’s event is a little odd, as it’s a month after the CES, but still a few days before the Mobile World Congress. We’d expect major announcements to coincide with one of these gatherings. It’s close enough to the MWC, though, that maybe HP still intends to show off whatever it’s got at that event, but wants to get a head start at generating buzz. Whatever the webOS news, we’ll be sure to update you as HP makes its revelations.
