Video: New WP7S Theme for ThrottleLauncher UI

In this video, we take a look at the first release (beta) of the new Windows Phone 7 Series theme, created by Arley12 of XDA, for Throttle Launcher 1.0.1. As you’ll see in the clip, it has some similarities with the real thing like animated tiles, a scrollable app menu in list format, and special panels for contacts/games. This is obviously just an advanced skin for a third party UI on Windows Mobile 6.x, but it’s impressive nonetheless. On an HTC Touch pro2, it lagged at times during transitions, but hopefully that will get ironed out in a future release. If you’re eager to get the WP7S look on your device now, head over to XDA-developers for more information. Installation instructions and patch info posted below.

Features:

- Scrollable home page and apps launcher

- Animated real contacts on home page

- Animated pictures tile with different thumbs from user selected folder

- Animated “Me” tile for owner info (customizable photo)

- Animated contacts tiles for People hub

- People hub

- Games hub

- Ability to select an Xbox LIVE Avatar (animates on home screen)

- Five color patterns for the tiles (Blue, Red, Green, Dark Blue, Yellow)

- Custom taskbar with a clock (can revert back to standard WM taskbar)

- Custom WP7S soft keys (can revert back to standard WM keys)

- Battery indicator(Graphics by HDOwner)

- Pin favorite apps on the home page

Installation: first install ThrottleLauncher 1.0.1 (free), then unzip the WindowsPhone7 theme folder and drop it into the “Program Files / ThrottleLauncher / Setups /” directory. Then enable the theme using ThrottleLauncher’s config app and finally, you can choose to run TL as a standalone app or as a Today plug-in.

Patch for People and Pictures hubs: the creator of ThrottleLauncher, APBilbo has created a patch to display all contacts after the favorite contacts in the people hub. It also adds a pictures page for whichever directory you’ve selected for pictures.

Note: another new WP7S theme was also released for SPB Mobile Shell today, check it out if you missed it.
