Use Side Volume Buttons as a D-Pad

Many of the current HTC devices, like the Touch HD for instance, don’t feature a hardware D-Pad so often navigation is a bit more difficult as it should be. Worry not, XDA Developers found a way of transforming the two volume buttons on the side into a full feature D-Pad.

Download and extract the contents of the zip file to your device and run it. From there on, the side volume control buttons will act as a Hardware D-Pad as follows (quote):

-Volume UP is remaped to d-pad UP. Can be hold for autorepeat.

-Volume DOWN is remaped to d-pad DOWN. Can be hold for autorepeat.

-Double click Volume UP is remaped to d-pad LEFT. Does not support autorepeat.

-Double click Volume DOWN is remaped to d-pad RIGHT. Does not support autorepeat.

-Double click with hold in Volume UP or DOWN is remaped to d-Pad RETURN. Does not support autorepeat.

-If a call is being established or is active the volume keys will behave normally.

If, for some reason, you want to disable the app, kill it with a Task Manager or simply Soft Reset. There’s not option for that at current but we hope the developer will offer support in future releases.
