Slide2Shutdown – The Saga Continues

After the huge success of Slide2Unlock, Slide2Play and Slide2View, here comes Slide2Shutdown from XDA Developers, following the same iPhone-ish principle taken over by others, where one has to slide a button over in order to register a command, for safety reasons. Must admit it’s cool too!

Slide2Shutdown comes in different flavors: first of all it comes in different screen resolution versions, so make sure you download the apropriate one for your resolution; second, there are two different cabs: one that contains only the application and one that registeres the power button, so holding that for four seconds will bring up Slide2Shutdown instead of the OS shutdown warning.

Slide2Shutdown is designed to do one of three things: shut down your system, restart it or put your device to sleep. The action taken depends on which slider you move towards the right of the screen. Pretty neat! One bug though in this initial release which we hope will get fixed soon: on some HTC devices, ShutDown does not work; instead, it will put your device to sleep.

Edit: Version 1.1 was just released fixing the shutdown issue and adding multiple language support.
