Remotely Control Your Computer with RemoteDroid

The RemoteDroid app isn’t a remote desktop app like we’ve talked about before, instead it allows you to use your Android-powered phone and wireless network to turn it into a keyboard and mouse.

This is accomplished with a two-part recipe where you download and install the RemoteDroid app from the Market (it’s free), download the server application from www.remotedroid.net, then connect the two together to allow you to use your touch-screen like a touch-pad, and your keyboard (even your soft-keyboard) to input text from your Android onto your computer.

Right now you’re probably thinking this is pretty lame. I mean, it’s cool “because you can”, but what real-world application would it have?

Let’s say you’re one of those people that uses their big-screen TV as a computer monitor, now you use your Android much like a small keyboard and mouse. Very cool!

(Thanks to Mike Dopp for pointing me to the app, and reader Edd for the idea.)
