Having a hard time deciding whether you want to sell your soul by extending your subscriber agreement another 2 years for a shiny, new Touch Pro2? As you know, the Touch Pro2′s predecessor, the Touch Pro, runs at 528MHz. What if you could overclock your current Touch Pro to somewhere near 800MHz, would that entice you to wait for the next best Windows Phone?
Well, No2Chem, a highly regarded developer, has recently made claims of achieving such a feat. No2Chem is well known among the Windows Mobile community and he specializes in developing powerful system utilities and ROMs for WM devices. Normally, when someone makes such a dramatic announcement, we can’t help but question the authenticity and stability of the claim. However, when a developer like No2Chem claims he’s able to overclock his Touch Pro to 800MHz, we have to take notice.
The screen shots below show the result of No2Chem’s tinkering of his Touch Pro, which is now clocking in at a shade under 800MHz. He claims that there’s a noticeable improvement in speed and that his device did not freeze up, but the information ends there. He does mention that he will create a tool for the rest of us looking to overclock our TPs. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about stability, battery life and overall performance over the coming days, which will give us an idea if it’s worth trying for ourselves. Check out No2Chem’s site for more info.
