How to Lock/Unlock Items on the New Start Menu

The new Start Menu brought by HTC on their two new devices, the newborn Touch Diamond2 and the upcoming Touch Pro2, behaves just like the programs tab on TouchFLO 3D, running on earlier devices like Diamond, Touch Pro or Touch HD: you have the same ability to lock/unlock the first 5 items in the list, by following the same procedure as we described in our earlier post.

In order to lock a slot, you need to edit your registry by navigating to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareHTCManilaProgramLauncher and chanigng the value of “IsReadOnly” in first 5 items (numbered 0 to 4) from 0 to 1.

For unlocking the slot, follow the same procedure, this time change the value of “IsReadOnly” in first 5 items (numbered 0 to 4) from 1 to 0. This procedure was described by XDA Developers.

Don’t forget to soft reset in order for changes to take effect!
