If you have a custom ROM on your VGA device that includes the Touch Pro2 (Rhodium) version of TouchFLO3D, then there’s a nice tweak from XDA Developers that will hide the bottom button bar just like in Landscape.

Make sure to backup first! Download the cab and install it to your device followed by a soft reset. When loading, you will notice some more screen real estate together with a cool new look to your Device.
