Add Call History, Communications Tabs to HTC Sense 2.5 & 2.1

If you’ve been waiting for the guys at XDA-developers to create custom Call History and Communications tabs for HTC Sense 2.5/2.1, like they did for TouchFLO 3D long ago, then you’re in luck. Utopykzebulon has been working hard lately to create these useful tabs for the XDA community. For Sense 2.1, you can add a Call History tab and/or a Wireless Communications tab. At the moment, you can only install the Call history tab for Sense 2.5, but hopefully one for communications will be made available soon.

The Call History panel can be scrolled and the index card icon for each contact will pull up details, messages and history when pressed. Tapping anywhere else on the entry will call that particular contact. You can also filter missed, outgoing, and incoming calls. There’s an option to delete history as well. As noted by the developer, there’s a chance that you might lose a tab after installing one of the CABs, but I believe there’s a workaround for advanced users who know how to edit manila files.

Unless I miscounted, I installed the Call History tab without issues on Sense 2.5 build 2012 (Rhodium dump). On build 1922, however, I lost the Footprints tab. I suspect that the tabs in jeopardy, if you have them, include Footprints, Documents and the Reader. If you like these tabs, your best bet is to skim through the XDA thread and check other users’ results or wait for a universal copy. Uninstalling the Call History hack brought back the Footprints tab for me, though the option to rearrange it was missing in the personalization settings. To install: disable Sense, install the CAB of your choice, and then re-enable Sense.

Note: It’s always a good idea to backup your files when trying out new mods. Also, I don’t use Sense 2.1, so I wasn’t able to test the CABs for it.
