Not many other sites have reported on the Bluetooth capabilities of the HTC TyTN II. I guess most people figure Bluetooth is Bluetooth. Most phones do come with Bluetooth, so it must be all the same, right?
Well, HTC devices have been notoriously poor performers in the Bluetooth reception area. You would likely get static if you walked into another room while wearing a headset or even just putting the phone in your pocket opposite the ear your headset was in. This would also make using Microsoft Voice Command through a headset difficult as the software really couldn’t get an accurate reading of what you were saying. The exception to this was the HTC Prophet (imate JAMin) and now the second exception is the HTC TyTN II.
The TyTN II has much much better accuracy when using voice recognition through my Bluetooth headset. I am extremely impressed and (now that it’s stopped raining) can’t wait to use it with my BlueAnt Interphone enabled motorcycle helmet.
The A2DP Stereo Bluetooth capabilities are improved as well. I paired the TyTN II with a Parrot BOOMBOX, started playing music and walked into another room with the TyTN II. The audio remained playing flawlessly and only began to break up when I walked into a third room (behind 2 walls and 30 ft distance). My other devices would break up after going behind one wall.
The TyTN II also seems to have a new Microsoft Bluetooth stack which now supports printing. That’s right! In just about all the native applications there’s a new “Print via Bluetooth” command in the menu that lets you search for and print to Bluetooth enabled printers.
Are you impressed yet?
