The Missing Form Factor

Has anyone else noticed that there have only been about four or five flip-style Windows Mobile phones released…ever? What’s up with that?

I loved my Star Trek. It was the thinnest Windows Mobile phone I’ve ever used, it showed me who was calling on the front screen, and it was feather light. Perfect! When HTC axed the Star Trek’s successor, the Erato (seen below under the RIP designation), it was a sad day. Sure, you can hack the Star Trek and put Windows Mobile 6 on it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it only sports EDGE and doesn’t have GPS or WiFi.

And then we have the Pantech PN-820, but that’s a boring (not to mention ugly) phone.

So someone — HTC, i-mate, Samsung, address the missing form factor and make a sexy flip phone for Windows Mobile.
