Oddly, one of the applications I’ve missed the most from the Pocket PC OS has been the notes application. Something which is so elegantly simple, yet strangely absent from the Smartphone OS.
I miss the ability to quickly jot down an idea, link, list… Instead, I’ve been creating random appointments with appended notes as a substitute; at least that way they’ll sync with an exchange server/desktop. This work-around is hardly ideal though, so I’ve recently tried a third party application called SmartphoneNotes (I wonder how they came up with that name?)
First impressions, SmartphoneNotes does exactly what I want (text record/sync), and even lets a user store notes on a Storage Card. Not that we are talking about a great memory expense, but nice to see. There’s also another application out there called PhatNotes. Although this does look superior, it’s more expensive. I’ve yet to try this out.
Are there any other Smartphone notepad solutions out there that folks are aware of? I’m hoping that the next iteration of the Smartphone OS includes it, until then…
