Smart Dialing Explained

Most modern devices have a neat feature that many of us don't even use, called Smart Dialing. It is especially helpful for those of you who have many Contacts and want to easily dial or select one without going through the hassle of opening up the Contacts application.

Smart Dialing basically lets you find and dial a specific contact in a few very easy steps, by filtering out Contacts on your Device (both Outlook and SIM). Let’s say I want to call Brandon, what do I do? I birng up the Dialpad and I start typing once the numbers of the letters that correspond to Brandon: 2 for B, 7 for R, 2 for B, just like T9. As I keep typing in the numbers, Smart Dialing keeps filtering out my Contacts one by one, as soon as I enter information just to let me with one Contact filtered at the end: the one that matches my criteria of “Bra” (“272”).

Switching between multiple numbers of the same contact can be achieved by swiping left and right on the contact name in fresh Windows Mobile builds or by tapping and holding on the Contact name for earlier builds.
