Today marks the beginning of a new journey, a new experience, this time with a Pocket PC phone, specifically the newly released 8125 on the Cingular network here in the US. Undressed, the 8125 is the HTC Wizard, aka i-mate K-JAM, but with different button placements and a Cingular logo plastered to the top.
After 20 days of living through , my curiosity was burning as to the other side of the Windows Mobile phone world the Pocket PC phone. The difference between what Microsoft describes to be a Smartphone and a Pocket PC phone is simple: the former is more compact and made for one-handed operation (and never has a touchscreen), while the latter is usually larger, does have a touchscreen, and requires two handed operation in most cases. That makes the Palm Treo 700w and HTC Wizard a Pocket PC phone, and the Motorola Q and i-mate SP5 a Smartphone.
Phew, it’s a different world between the two versions, and there is a lot to say about the experience. More soon.
