Wow. Oh wow. We didn’t see this coming. Those old leaks that have been floating around for years of Windows Mobile 7 were just that…old leaks. The new Windows Phone 7 series is a completely new interface with a Zune HD core. It features multiple hubs that connect together various experiences, all of which can be accessed easily with the new Zune-like syncing application.
It’s clear that Microsoft isn’t allowing third parties to change the interface. Also, third party apps from Windows Mobile 6.5 and below probably won’t work on 7, unless there’s an emulator coming in the future. Make no mistake about it, Windows Phone 7 series is totally new, and represents a fresh start for Microsoft’s mobile strategy. It just may save them.
There is still a lot of unanswered questions here. But based on what you know so far, what do you think?
