Take a look at the screen of your smartphone. Take a close look…as close as you can see without losing focus. What do you see? You see pixels. On the iPhone 4, if you did this same exercise, you wouldn’t see pixels. You would just see an image. That’s because the pixels of the iPhone 4 are a mere 78 microns in size (THAT’S how they packed 960×640 resolution into a 3.5″ display). A human hair is about 50 microns, as comparison. As you can see in the above image taken from MobileCrunch, even with a high resolution camera (click here for the full resolution), we can barely see pixels. Incredible.
