I wake up this morning to find my power out. No computer, no internet, no work that can be done. And then I remember internet sharing. I run over to my laptop, which has about 2 hours of juice left thankfully. I fire up my XPERIA X1, go to Start > Programs > Internet Sharing. Press connect, attach the USB cable to my computer, and within 15 seconds, Windows Vista is showing me a green earth icon on in the Tray, and SpeedTest.net is telling me that I’m getting 1.5mbps down and 330kbps up over HSDPA through the XPERIA. Nice.
Also, since you can do simultaneous voice and data with UMTS technology, I can still make calls from my phone without interrupting the data signal.
Admittedly I haven’t had much of a use for internet sharing in the past and have only used it for testing. But after this experience, I’m super impressed with how incredibly easy it is to use, and how well it works =D.
