HTC Hero First-Time Setup

In this video, we cover the first-time setup experience of the HTC Hero, which is actually quite nice compared to other mobile devices like those that run Windows Mobile. It lets you practice on the keyboard, plus set up email and social networking accounts.

Unfortunately, the Hero doesn’t have a utility that will auto-configure the settings for your specific carrier. Or, at least, I couldn’t find one. Instead, I had to add in an access point using AT&T’s usual credentials (wap.cingular). If you’d like to see the full settings, click on.

name: AT&T

apn: wap.cingular

proxy: blank

port: blank

username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM

password: CINGULAR1

server: blank

mmsc: http://mmsc.cingular.com

mms proxy: wireless.cingular.com

mms port: 80

mcc: 310

mnc: 41

apn: blank
