HTC Entry Level Phone a Tell-Tale Sign of T-Mobile 3G in US?

HTC recently launched the HTC P3470, an entry level, low-end navigation phone that operates on Windows Mobile Professional and tops out on EDGE data speed. The device will feature 256/128 MB ROM/RAM, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth, and closely resembles the HTC T-Mobile Wing, currently available on sale in the United States.

The P3470 is said to be coming to several European carriers. Despite the device having EDGE access, it is not reportedly coming to T-Mobile USA. Could this be a sign that T-Mobile is limiting its new Windows Mobile smartphone inventory until its 3G network is ready and will launch upcoming devices with 3G only? AT&T, now mostly up with its 3G network, does not offer any low-end EDGE-only Windows Mobile smartphones.
