Microsoft is trying to synchronize its branding across different product lines, carrying the Windows name from desktop to cloud to mobile and merging that with Windows Mobile to get Windows Phone. Confusing? Well, Windows Phone will essentially be the the UI and hardware that is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.
Check out the latest video (posted below) of the Windows Phone UI, with some new stuff shown and some stuff that’s already been seen/known before. A short demo of the Marketplace, the new Internet Explorer Mobile, and a more refined UI are among some of the things shown off.
Also of note is that we learn that Windows Mobile 6.5 is built for people coming to the smartphone world from a featurephone, and that it will co-exist with Windows Mobile 7 (which will be for premium devices). Interesting strategy, but we think it may confuse the consumer.
