Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Gets Name-Dropped by Microsoft MSDN

What we had previously referred to as Windows Mobile 6.5.1 or Windows Mobile 6.5.x is now being called Windows Mobile 6.5.3 by the Microsoft Developer Network webpage. According to that webpage, 6.5.3 is described as:

“Beginning with the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 release, touchable tiles replace soft keys. For developers, the change from soft keys to touchable tiles is automatic starting with Windows Mobile 6.5.3. All of the following applies to touchable tiles and to soft keys.”

6.5.x has been floating around in some leaked ROMs and have been shown on video before. From what it seems, 6.5.3 may be an incremental, evolutionary upgrade from Windows Mobile 6.5, improving on the touch experience with icons instead of the soft keys.

Could we see a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 at CES? Microsoft may highlight some strategic mobile strategies as CEO Steve Ballmer is the keynote speaker.
