With all the publicity that Facebook is getting with its mobile web portal and application on various platforms, MySpace is hoping to remain relevant with today’s fickle users in the social networking space. The social network MySpace will be offering a free application for Windows Mobile. The application will come pre-loaded on LG phones, but should be available as a separate download for many Windows Phone users later this year.

According to SlashPhone, MySpace’s partnership with Microsoft isn’t just at the application level with the app set to debut in the Marketplace, Microsoft’s applications store. Rather, MySpace Mobile for Windows Mobile will utilize Microsoft’s Silverlight technology. This means that Silverlight will indeed be heading to Windows Mobile 6.5. More importantly, will MySpace switch its video content technology from Adobe Flash to Microsoft Silverlight?
