In this video, we are going to explore some of the differences between the two voice command applications that come pre-bundled with the Samsung Intrepid, a Windows Mobile 6.5 device that sports a BlackBerry-like form factor and touchscreen. The Intrepid comes with the classic Microsoft Voice Command, found on many Windows Mobile devices and also the new TellMe app, which Adam had discussed.

In the end, I found that both applications are useful on the Intrepid. In the software tour, we found that the TellMe app is actually mapped to a button on the bottom of the keyboard; you can map Voice Command to a different button to use both. TellMe allows you to quickly search the internet and pull up location-based information with your voice and send quick text messages. On the other hand, Voice Command is an application that is better apt at giving you control of your device–allowing you to open apps, change the ringer volume, find out the time, check your next appointments, and more with your voice. The two complement each other nicely and it’s great to see Sprint and Samsung bundle both applications on the device.

TellMe was actually first made available on the BlackBerry platform. Hopefully, the Microsoft subsidiary will be making TellMe available to download on other Windows Mobile handsets in the future.
