Since visual voicemail debuted on the iPhone, a number of third party voicemail solutions exist, including those that transcribe voicemail and deliver the voicemail files to a user’s email inbox to be played later as a .wav or .mp3 attachment. Now, Verizon Wireless is following the visual voicemail bandwagon by offering a downloadable application that will enable select non-smartphones have access to visual voicemail.
Engadget Mobile reports that the Verizon Wireless solution will be available for download on the LG Chocolate 3, the Voyager refresh, and the Motorola Blaze and Utopia initially for $1.99 per month.
Visual voicemail is a feature that enables users to scan and hear only select voicemail messages without having to listen to every message, similar to scanning and reading emails.
