In addition to the Verizon Wireless HP Mini with built-in mobile broadband from the carrier’s CDMA/EVDO 3G network, it looks like Big Red is gearing up to add another netbook to its lineup. This time, the netbook will be from Gateway, called the Gateway LT2016U.
Specs-wise, the Gateway and HP models are similar, with the former sporting a larger 160 GB hard drive as opposed to the latter’s 80 GB. Additionally, the Gateway will come with a 10.1-inch display sporting 1024 X 600 resolution, Windows XP Home Edition, Intel Atom processor clocking in at 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, WiFi, web cam, and network support for CDMA/EVDO Rev. A for domestic use and HSPA and GSM/EDGE for international travel. The Gateway netbook will weigh in at close to 3 pounds, making it about half a pound chunkier than the HP Mini.
The Gateway model will cost $150 after a $100 mail in rebate and a two-year mobile broadband service agreement.
