It looks like Verizon Wireless will make its Android debut soon with the help of Motorola, a Windows phone maker famous for the Q9 keyboard that’s getting more entrenched with Android. Many were disappointed at the firm for its 1 Android announcement at Mobilize 09 with the Moto CLIQ, but recent FCC documents show that Motorola has another trick up its sleeves with the nation’s largest carrier.

While the CLIQ will be headed to T-Mobile–a carrier that already has a good relationship with HTC with handsets like the myTouch 3G, the T-Mobile G1, T-Mobile Touch Pro2, and the Dash 3G–the Sholes is destined for Verizon Wireless for CDMA networks. Rumors also have it that the Sholes will be later available in a GSM variant as well.

It’s also rumored that the Sholes will be the first Android device to support the TI OMAP 3 processor, which is based on the ARM Cortex 8 design, making the Motorola Android headsets zippier than current Android phones on the market today. The same chipset is found on the Palm Pre.
