Verizon Wireless’ Test Drive Program is one of the best in the industry for new customers wanting to try out equipment and service from a wireless carrier for thirty days without committing. Similar programs are available on other carriers, but Verizon upped the ante with their program by waiving the service fees should a customer walk away within the thirty days. That program is set to end on February 14th and beginning February 15, Verizon Wireless will still bill you for usage within the first thirty days should you walk away and return your equipment.
For current customers, the New Every Two Years program is also changing. Previously, customers on a $79.99 plan and above were encouraged to renews their contracts and get a new phone with a $100 discount. On and after February 15th, that discount will fall to $50. Customers in the $35-$79.98 plans will see their discounts for re-upping their contracts drop from $50 to $30 according to The Boy Genius Report.
With alll the reductions in benefit, maybe T-Mobile has it right with its layaway program, asking customers to buy more and pay over four months.
