Verizon-Bound Android HTC Desire Passes WiFi Certification

Verizon Wireless is making the news this morning with its Motorola Sholes Android handset and now we’re hearing that the HTC Desire has just passed WiFi certification with the WiFi Alliance. The Desire has already garnered FCC approval. Hopefully, that means that HTC is dropping the Desire for those on Verizon Wireless’ network who wants an HTC-sourced Android phone.

Not much information is known about the HTC Desire, including what it looks like. We also heard another name for HTC’s Android offering on Verizon Wireless called the HTC Predator. Perhaps the Desire is a codename for the launch name of the Predator? Either way, we’ll have to wait and see.

Verizon Wireless already carries Windows Mobile phones made by HTC, including in its current lineup the CDMA version of the Touch Pro2 and the Verizon Wireless HTC Ozone, which is a CDMA variant of the HTC Snap.
