Use a Smartphone with a Medical Device? There’s a Windows Mobile Device for That.

In a jab at Apple, which had announced the iPhone 3.0 Firmware to support third-party accessories, including those that use the dock connector for medical peripherals, Toshiba has demoed an ultrasound connector on the TG01. While Apple’s third-party accessories are still vaporware as there hasn’t been any released since the keynote announcement, Toshiba’s TG01 makes excellent use of the USB host capabilities to enable third-party hardware support.

The Toshiba TG01 with ultra-sound support will serve to help Windows Mobile remain relevant with vertical markets such as healthcare. Since the iPhone 3G and 3GS with the App Store, medical titles have been growing in the iPhone library.

So, in Apple’s tradition of there’s an app for that we have Toshiba saying there’s already a Windows Phone for that.
