BusinessWeek has put together an article about what Microsoft needs to do to compete in the mobile space. On page two, they mention some interesting information – that the average Windows Mobile device costs $154 to make, versus $144 for the T-Mobile G1. The article contends that by making a device that relies on cloud-computing, as does the G1, hardware OEMs can cut corners in terms of processing power and memory.
