At last, users of T-Mobile’s Samsung Behold II is getting their much promised Android 1.6 upgrade. The device was promised an Android 2.x upgrade, but Samsung decided to instead offer an upgrade only to Android 1.6 for the device, which had angered some users who were expecting an Android 2.1 upgrade for the capable multimedia-centric smartphone. The phone will not be upgradeable beyond 1.6 according to Samsung.
The Android 1.6 upgrade will bring:
-Access to Google Maps Navigation
-Google Voice Search capability
-Quick search box for Android
-Swype keyboard
-Media player improvements
-Updated core Android applications
-Improved Bluetooth capabilities
-Additional usability updates/fixes
The upgrades have begun to trickle out over the air this week and will continue in batches through June 25th. If you’re an Android Behold II owner, you can check your phone to see if the update has been pushed to you.
