Sprint Samsung Intrepid Unboxing and Hardware Tour

We got a chance to quickly do an unboxing and hardware tour of of the Samsung Intrepid on Sprint after spotting the phone on the show floor at CTIA earlier last week with the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5. This world phone has a QVGA display, convenient and contiguous QWERTY keyboard that is large and capacious, and a touchscreen. It runs on Sprint’s EVDO network here in the US and will be able to roam on GSM/HSPA networks globally.

Check out the video below:

A few observations that the video didn’t mention:

1. Some reviewers have noted that the phone feels cheap due to how light it is. My conclusion is different. The lack of heft feels good and means your hands won’t get tired after a day of heavy emailing and texting holding this sleek bad boy. The phone is large, has a big screen and capacious keyboard, but also light and weight is distributed evenly so it’s not a top-heavy handset, giving it a good feel.

2. The wide directional pad offers a nice feel to it. Users with smaller hands may not be used to how wide the directional pad compared to other devices, such as the Samsung Jack.

For the full specs of the Sprint Intrepid, please also see PDAdb.net. The device is available on Sprint for $150 after rebates and contracts.

Stay tuned for the software tour and a comparison overview of the Intrepid’s keyboard against devices like the Jack and the BlackBerry Tour.
