One of the biggest complaints among iPhone owners is a lack of a dedicated “Today” screen that gives you quick information at a glance without having to unlock the phone and navigate to an app, like Calendar, to obtain your data. Well, some third-party developers are looking to bring some of that HTC-like ease of use to the iPhone in an app for a jailbroken iPhone that mimics the capabilities found on overlays found on Windows Mobile and Android devices, like TouchFLO 3D, HTC Sense UI–which also was ported to the iPhone, and the Samsung TouchWiz Widgets.
The developers of SmartScreen are now calling developers to create widgets for the iPhone. Those Widgets can easily be moved around between different screens and rearranged (think Android) and be customizable (think TouchWiz) and provide useful, relevant information at a glance (think TouchFLO 3D).
