The Sinchun UMPC would finally be the tablet that invades the netbook space in power, performance, and price. It is a device that many had hoped we would see at Apple’s recent media event.
At its core, the UMPC-501 runs Windows XP and is powered by an Intel Atom processor at 1.1 GHz and you can choose solid state drives between 8 GB and 32 GB with up to 1 GB of RAM. With a 5-inch screen, GPS, WiFi, and 3G for mobile data connectivity, the device will be versatile to follow you wherever you are. Priced at around $440 and expected to be on sale later this month, the Sinchun UMPC-501 is a compelling device that may compete with netbooks, smartphones, and dedicated mobile internet devices.
